Last week, I visited San Francisco, the beautiful city by the bay! I was there to see family and friends, and to run the San Francisco Marathon (separate marathon report to follow). Saturday night I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero, which was the host hotel for the Marathon. It was also very convenient, as the marathon ran shuttles back and forth from the hotel to the Expo for packet pickup on Friday and Saturday, and, on Sunday, the marathon began and ended right at the Embarcadero. As someone who’s run the NYC Marathon 16 times, I can tell you how nice it is to step out of your hotel door and be right at the start of the race!
For those who know this blog, it regularly features reviews of hotel fitness centers. The Hyatt StayFit™ fitness facility is located right on the main atrium floor, next to the elevators. Open 24 hours a day, the facility provides, among other things:
- Life Fitness Treadmills,
- Life Fitness Cross Trainers,
- Lifecycle Upright Exercise Bikes,
- Chest and Shoulder Press,
- Seated Leg Press,
- Lat pull down,
- Exercise mats, resistance bands and balls.
The gym was bright, spotless and spacious. Plus, there were more treadmills there than I’ve ever seen at a hotel gym (with the exception of the Grand Hyatt Seattle). Everything, was brand-spanking new and appeared to be in good working order. Curiously, no one was in the gym when I went there on Sunday afternoon on my return from the marathon.
The hotel also offers YogaAway™ for those who prefer to work out from the privacy of their hotel room. (Maybe next time I’ll try that!).
Here are some photos I took of the fitness center:
If you would like to see a review of other aspects of the hotel, here’s one written by Ric at Loyalty Traveler.
