Last week (or was it the week before?), I wrote about a Gold Amex Business Rewards Card offer, which featured 75,000 Membership Rewards Bonus points upon spending $10,000 in the first four months.
Upon reflection, I wrote another post, explaining that, although the offer was a great one, the spend requirement was a little too steep for me, and that I’d rather hold out for a better offer.
I was therefore really excited when I saw the post by Points, Miles and Martinis yesterday — reporting a new Gold Amex Business offer – of 50,000 Membership Rewards Bonus points when you spend $5,000 on the card by November 9, 2012. These are essential terms and conditions:
- $0 introductory annual fee for first year, normally $175
- Open Savings: when you use the card with companies like Hyatt, FedEx, Hertz and others, it will automatically add a 3%-10% statement credit on top of previously negotiated discounts
- Spend $5,000 between June 12, 2012 and November 9, 2012 for the eligible sign up bonus
- Offer expires 8/7/12
- Limit one card offer per Card Account
- Call 888-346-6736
- Mention Bonus ID: A2KM and mention personal RSVP code received in the mail
PERFECT!!! Although less points than the prior offer, this offer fit me like a glove. Or so I thought. I phoned Amex last night using the phone number given by Points, Miles and Martinis, but was basically told that the offer was a targeted one, and that, unless I received this offer from Amex in the mail, I was not eligible for it. I did a little dance and then hemmed and hedged and even hawed, to no avail.
Maybe I’ll call back and try again. Or maybe I’ll just wait for the next offer.
Because, there always is one…..isn’t there?
Please comment below if you received this offer, or if you didn’t receive the offer but you gave it a try anyway. I’d love to hear about this experience from you, as well as any other similar experiences.
