I received this FREE OFFER in an email from Panera Bread this morning:
YES! A free bagel every day for the month of April. The terms say only this:
*Present your MyPanera card each day to redeem your reward for a free daily bagel in April in a participating bakery-cafe, online or through our mobile app, where available. Limit one bagel per day. Offer is eligible on same day ordering only. Spreads not included. Cannot be redeemed for other bakery items or bulk bagel packs. While supplies last. Offer expires 4/30/2017. This month your bagel is free every day.
I’m always leery of offers that sound too good to be true, so I wasn’t 100% convinced that this was for real or if there were any further strings attached. But, of course I had to find out.
There’s a Panera right near my subway entrance so I walked in. I was told, yes, it is legit, and all I had to do was enter my phone number. I did that and was on my way to work with an Asiago cheese bagel in my hand.
Did you get this offer?

I did get it and in the past I’ve gotten other offers like free coffee every day for the month. But I know I won’t use it – bagels are not my “go-to” for bfast. Even at the price of free.

even if I did not intend to eat the bagel (because, for example, I was gluten free, watching my weight or observing passover), I might get it and give it to someone hungry on the subway. #occupybagels

Great deal! And that is very sweet of you Kathy.
Sandy Boater says
Kathy/Stephanie, Do you realize how absurd you two sound? You expect me to go to Panera to get a free bagel that I don’t want and will never eat, then you suggest I toss it at some stranger in the subway? wth?
Will Run For Miles says
No, I never suggested you should do anything other than what you’re going to do and made no judgments.
