You don’t hear much about Choice Hotels or their loyalty program, Choice Privileges, around here very much. Granted, many of their hotel brands are economy brands. In some areas of this country or internationally, these hotels may be quality choices comparable to IHG, Hilton, SPG, Wyndham and similar properties. In other instances, a Choice hotel might be a preferred accommodation based on convenience and location (Similarly, though a different brand, I remember staying at Super 8 hotels a few times when I was running a marathon in every state).
Some hotels such as those in the Ascend Hotel Collection and Cambria Hotels and Suites are four star hotels and are very classy (see, e.g., There’s a New Choice Hotel in New York City: Cambria Times Square).
Choice Privileges will match to other hotel elite loyalty programs. In fact, right now Choice Privileges is actively soliciting people to apply for status matches – my friend Abe received an email saying this:

Why status match to Choice hotels? See this list:
——> STATUS MATCH LINK
Although I don’t see breakfast on the list, the perks and amenities listed above make it worthwhile to request a status match if you might be planning to stay at a Choice hotel or if your existing status with another hotel loyalty program is about to expire, or you just want to try out a new brand.
Here are the various CHOICE PRIVILEGES MEMBERSHIP LEVELS
So, you want to apply? Here’s what you do:
What has your experience been with Choice Hotels?

With regard to breakfast options, Choice Hotels tend to offer an expanded continental breakfast. In many locations, tasteless egg patties (my opinion) are among the morning offerings.
