Yesterday, I noticed that 30,000 Hyatt Gold Passport Points were newly added to my account. I assumed this was a reward from a prior promotion, but then I heard some mumbles from others who also received this generous credit. I was hoping it was an impromptu gift from Hyatt to it’s Diamond members thanking them for their loyalty. Well, that was yesterday and today is today.
Just as mysteriously as the 30,000 points arrived in my account, today they disappeared without a trace or explanation.
I called Hyatt and asked what happened to my points. Here is what I learned. Yesterday afternoon an email was sent out to employees by Matthew Hanson, Manager of Operations, Hyatt Gold Passport. This is what it said (please note the email was read to me, so if there are any inaccuracies, I apologize):
There is a small number of accounts impacted by an error with Sweet Dreams, Sweet Rewards offer # 4. The error credited the account with 30,000 points after registration instead of after the nights were completed. The error is now fixed and all points added were removed and will be reapplied to accounts once the eligible nights have been reached.
I kind of like the earn now, stay later concept. Talk about Sweet Rewards! Oh well….

My account got the 30k points. Sounds like it wasn’t a small number. I didn’t get an email like you mentioned though.

sorry if it wasn’t clear in the blog post. I did not receive an email from Hyatt. This was an internal email sent by corporate to Hyatt employees.
And I agree. I would guess that everyone who got offer #4 got the 30K!
