Since we had a 7 a.m. flight home from Amsterdam, I made a reservation to stay at the Hyatt Place Amsterdam Airport Hotel for our last night. We did not leave central Amsterdam until after the Andaz wine hour and then dinner. We took an UBER RIDE FROM HELL to the Hyatt Place hotel. We arrived at the Hyatt Place and were warmly greeted. Check in was easy until I was advised there was no airport shuttle until 6:30 a.m. I think I responded with shock – at all airport Hyatt hotels I’ve stayed at shuttle service has begun at 5 a.m., and the convenience of an airport shuttle was one of the primary reasons I had chosen this hotel. Obviously I assumed wrong. However, the front desk manager graciously offered to arrange for a complimentary taxi for us in the morning, and I graciously accepted.
We only had a few hours to sleep. the room was a lovely, sophisticated spin on the traditional Hyatt Place room. We were on a high floor, with large windows.
There was a welcome note and fruit for us in the room.
There was also a safe in the room, something which most Hyatt Places in the United States are lacking.
The bathroom was clean, with sufficient room, and a nice, modern design.
The bed was comfortable and we slept well. We were up early, and back in the lobby with our suitcases. It was still dark, so the photos are not very bright. But, the lobby area was extremely spacious and grand. It felt more like an upscale hotel lobby such as a Hyatt Regency. The morning front desk agent greeted us with the same warmth as the night staff. Since we would be missing breakfast, they offered us a box meal. This was way more than a typical box meal! There was a sandwich, yogurt, fruit, juice as well as water from the Gallery Market.
Believe it or not, these photos are all from the ground floor lobby, seating and eating areas:
In my haste I did not get a chance to personally view the fitness center. However, the guest relations manager, Stephanie Rijk, sent me these photos. From what I can see, the fitness room appears to be a good size and equipped with plenty of great machines, with plenty of light and space.
I liked the hotel. I wish I had spent more time there and seen it in the daylight. The staff was amazingly kind and helpful. The service was high quality. I do think the hotel should have a shuttle that begins at 5 am – otherwise they might lose the guests who have early morning flights.
