Malpensa Airport has 3 Priority Pass lounges. Sala Respighi is landside at terminal 1 so I stopped in here this morning after arriving from JFK ( actually I’m still here).
I’m not an airport lounge snob, but as long as I have entry (be it because of a credit card or the class I’m flying) I’ll take it. I have a flight out of MXP tonight so maybe I’ll check out one or both of the other lounges here.
When I arrived here, I was the only guest. I showed my Priority Pass and Check-in was easy. I was advised that this club does not have shower facilities. It has free wi-fi.
The club is one large room, with leather arm chairs. It is clean and welcoming and the assortment of complimentary food and beverages is good. The cappuccino was good. There is only one TV.
However, this place smells really bad. I don’t know what it is, but to me it seems like a noxious chemical odor. In addition my nose is stuffed and my eyes are burning- it could just be from flying all night but I think it’s from a chemical. I should note that I am very sensitive to smells.
I finally asked the agents. One denied any smell. The other admitted her eyes burn every day and she thinks it is from the carpet cleaner the maintenance workers use. Hopefully the lounge will look into this issue.
As I said, other than the odor, it’s a nice enough lounge to stop in for a coffee, free wifi, a drink or snack and to pass some time. Here are some photos:
