A quick post because I have to pack and get to the airport – I’m going to Washington, DC – well actually Crystal City, Virginia – for a “Launch” party for the upcoming Star Mega Do 4 mega trip. Huh? This must sound as crazy to a runner as marathon training sounds to a frequent flyer.
Last year I attended an amazing trip called the Star Mega Do 3 – which I wrote a little about in one of my first posts. If you want to know what a “Mega Do” is – the intro page of the MegaDo Website sums it up very well in one short phrase:
I attended the Star Mega Do 3 trip in September 2011. It is not easy to secure a spot at one of these trips – there are thousands in line for the few precious spots. In fact, I won the trip in a contest by The Points Guy called “The Great Seatmate Contest” – you can read about it here!
If you look closely at the logo for the Star Mega Do 3, you can actually see the itinerary.
This was the schedule of the whirlwind trip:
I could write about the trip for hours, but I haven’t the time.
Tonight is the “Launch” party for the next Star Mega Do – the Star Mega Do 4. The short 2 hour party is at the HYATT Crystal City and that is where the details of the Star Mega Do 4 will be announced and revealed for the first time. Ohhhhh, the suspense and speculation! All I know now is that I’m going to see some great people later on today, and that I’ll know more tonight.
So, its time to get packing and get to the airport. Have a great day!
p.s. I’m happy to report that I’ve been upgraded to first class on my flight. Since its such a short flight, that probably means only that I’ll be served a drink in a real glass. That’s fine with me. Despite all the hoopla, what really counts is getting from one place to another safely.
