Deals You Should Know About: $5 off Woot, $30 Credit per Amex Small Business Saturday, Pay Evolve by Credit Card and $30 Credit Uber

Happy Monday.  Today, I’m just posting some current deals – many of them are already posted in many blogs, but I want to get these out there so my readers can take advantage of these opportunities.

American Express^® Card Members can register to get up to $30 back when they Shop Small^® on Small Business Saturday^®.

You can register practically all of your American Express Cards (including Authorized User cards).  Then, on November 29th, you can get up to 3 $10 statement credits for purchases on each card.  You can look up the participating businesses here, but they are very broad, including everything from dry cleaners to restaurants to boutique hotels to nail salons and even lawyers and doctors.  I usually focus on local stores and restaurants, and often will buy gift certificates for future use.  You can even use this as an opportunity to start your holiday gift shopping.

Unlike a lot of other deals, this is easy and win-win.  And, by participating, you are bringing money to your local merchants now.

Evolve Money, a bill payment service, through which you can pay many bills , such as utility and loan bills, by debit cards (including Visa or Mastercard Gift Cards), now also accepts payment by Discover card.   Thus, through Evolve, I can now pay my ConEd bill (which ordinarily charges for payments by credit card) by Discover card.   I only wish my co-op accepted maintenance payments via Evolve….

I’m sure most of you have heard of UBER.   Many people are using Uber instead of taxis and other car services.  Some people love it, others don’t.  I found it handy last week when I had an early morning flight out of JFK.  It was my first time using Uber, and unbeknownst to me, I had credits of $65 on the card, so the trip to the airport cost 33 cents. Seriously.
