World of Hyatt has just announced that 372 hotels, including Small Luxury Hotels of the World and resorts in Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, will be shifting to different award categories effective March 28, 2023 at 8:00 am CDT.
Of the 372 hotels – 158 will shift to a lower award category and 214 hotels will shift to a higher award category.
Some popular hotels like Stonebridge Inn, a Destination by Hyatt Residence, Thompson Washington D.C., Hyatt Regency Cologne, and Hyatt Place Kyoto will shift down in category.
Nine Category 7 hotels will move to Category 8, including Park Hyatt Zurich, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort, Hyatt Centric Key West Resort and Spa, and others. If you are planning to use a cat. 1-7 free night certificate at one of those hotels, hurry and use it now. Also take a look at the category 4 hotels moving to category 5 – for which you may want to apply a cat. 1-4 free night certificate now before the change goes into effect.
As for the Inclusive Collection – YIKES! Seven resorts represented on the all-inclusive Award Chart will shift to Category D and one will shift to Category E.

- All free night award and Points + Cash redemptions booked before 8:00 am CDT on Tuesday, March 28 will follow the current Award Chart regardless of stay dates, even if the hotel is shifting to a higher award category.
- members who have existing award or Points + Cash bookings as of 8:00 am CDT on Tuesday, March 28 for a night on or after Tuesday, March 28 at a Hyatt hotel that moved down to a lower category, will receive an automatic one-time refund on the point difference. Points will be returned to members’ accounts starting Tuesday, March 28.
- Any free night award and Points + Cash redemptions booked on or after 8:00 am CDT on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, will follow the new Award Chart.
- Once changes go into effect on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. CDT, any adjustments made to existing reservations will follow the terms of the new Award Chart.
