Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Ft Lauderdale Shutting Down in 2 Days and then Rebranding

This will be short and (bitter) sweet as I’m at Dublin airport about to board a flight.

I was about to make reservations at Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and this popped up on the screen:

So basically – the hotel was damaged due to hurricane Irma, it is closing down on October 12th, and sometime after that will reopen as another brand. The above has info on who to call for refunds and alternative bookings.

I’m sad to see this hotel leaving the World of Hyatt portfolio. I had a really nice stay in the Presidential Suite in 2016. See Presidential Suite

Then again, there are many who intensely disliked this property. Gary Leff said it was his least favorite Hyatt. Others called it a dump and said good riddance.

I wonder what’s next for this property.
