I have not yet been to Australia, but it is most definitely on the list of places I’d like to visit. (Of course, I intend to run a marathon there someday – perhaps the Gold Coast Airport Marathon or the Canberra Marathon). Today, I was looking at some travel blog updates on LinkedIn, and I came across this by photojournalist Susan Gough Henley, announcing:
AUSTRALIA: WHERE TO GO app is FREE on iTunes for a limited time only ~~ My app AUSTRALIA: WHERE TO GO is FREE on iTunes for Tuesday, October 9 and Wednesday, October 10.
The Australia: Where to Go app is developed by Sutro Media, which has a number of other travel related apps and is usually $3.99. It has very high ratings, and is available for both iPhone and iPad.
Here is how its described on the iTunes Preview page:
This is the definitive guide to all the best places & authentic experiences across Australia from the outback to the beach, from its casually confident cities to its ancient indigenous culture.
It offers insider tips on how to engage with Australia’s remarkable landscapes, its idiosyncratic locals & its utterly bizarre wildlife.
It is NOT YOUR TYPICAL APP:
* It is opinionated, jam-packed with info & pragmatic advice you won’t find elsewhere.
* It is a big app for a big continent, but it is not encyclopedic. Rather it distills the best. Once a destination has made the cut, it gives you everything you need to enjoy it.
* It actually contains MINI APPS WITHIN THE APP. Many entries cover entire regions with bullet points on what to do, where to stay, eat & drink.
* When a resort, restaurant, or individual adventure is outstanding it gets its own entry with in-depth opinions on how best to enjoy it.
Well, given the price, my love of all things travel-related, and my ownership of both an iPhone and an iPad, I’m going to get this app.
