Qatar Airways Al Safwa First Lounge at Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH)
Qatar Airways has two lounges at Doha Hamad International Airport, the Al Safwa Lounge (First Class) and the Al Mourjan Lounge (Business Class). Each are incredible. People sound euphoric when they talk about these lounges. Dare I say orgasmic? All I can say is this hobby is really spoiling me!
I recently went to Egypt on Qatar Airways (see, I Flew in QSuites Four Times in September!). Although the first flight, from JFK to Doha was listed as business class, the second flight, from Doha to Cairo, was listed as first class. I had heard mixed reports on whether or not I’d be allowed entry into the Al Safwa lounge on this ticket, but I figured – what the hell – you only live once! So, we gave it a shot. We went up the escalator to the extolled Al Safwa lounge.
At the front desk, we showed our documents and we were granted entry in without any hesitation. To say Al Safwa lounge is astonishing, is an understatement. It is amazingly jaw-dropping gorgeous. The website describes it as an oasis of luxury, inspired by the finest art, a gastronomic journey of flavours, and a gleaming example of Arabian grandeur and elite exclusivity in a refined setting. It is all that and more!
I know you want to see the photos, so this is primarily a pictorial post. Feel free to gasp!
Yes, this is a Keith Haring painting.
Even the restroom is exquisite!
The business center seems like something out of a dream sequence.
In terms of food, there is an informal buffet area as well as a more formal restaurant. We wanted the full experience, so we opted for the latter. This is the buffet area.
This is the restaurant and bar area.
Due to the pandemic, the seating areas were restricted so there was ample distance between tables.
When we were seated, the waitperson brought this platter of bread, butter and other starters.
All of the food was delicious. This was the seafood soup.
Falafel appetizer plate.
The salmon was perfectly prepared.
Visiting the Al Safwah lounge was an experience I’ll never forget. Don’t miss it if you ever have the opportunity to go there!
The Al Mourjan Business Lounge is reviewed separately.
