An Extraordinary Show by the Millionaires’ Magician in New York City

Last week, a friend, who is also a blogger, texted me and asked if I would like to go to a magic show with her. My first inclination was to kind of cringe at the thought of sitting in a room watching someone recite abracadabra as he performed a repetition of boring and obvious tricks. I responded honestly saying I’m not really huge on magic shows, but it would be so nice to see you, so yes, I’ll go.

My friend also told me that this performance is at the Lotte New York Palace (which I remember as the Helmsley Palace from years’ past), that the magician’s name is Steve Cohen, and that this performance is a complimentary showing for media, influencers and the like. Lastly, guests were kindly requested to dress in cocktail attire. That was enough fodder to spark my interest. I did some research and, despite my initial reaction, started feeling a bit excited about the upcoming show.

All I can say is WOW! The show is excellent. The magician and star extraordinaire, Steve Cohen aka The Millionaires’ Magician aka Chamber Magic is not only super talented, but he is delightful, personable and witty as well. Each aspect of the performance was fluid and well-executed, and, well, although I knew there had to be a trick there somewhere, it often left me both mesmerized and on the edge of my seat.

Plus, the location of the show is a beautiful, but intimate, room at the historic New York Palace. The ambiance is not like watching a Las Vegas extravaganza (I’m not a big Vegas fan), but more intimate as if a friend, or even a relative, was bringing you into his living room to amuse you with his latest tricks. Also, none of the tricks were typical, predictable or tedious.

I don’t know how he did his card tricks or how he poured so many drinks out of a tea kettle or pinpointed the place on a map which one of the guests was thinking of. You’ll have to see for yourself!

The show is memorable, whether you live in New York City or you are visiting. Steve Cohen performs two shows each Friday and Saturday evening. Tickets are not cheap ($125), but, if you can swing it, I definitely recommend it.
