In today’s tech savvy world, one of the top issues for hotel guests is tech-related. We want wi-fi! Constantly, we go in search of outlets to charge our gadgets. Even the least techy (*Kathy raises her hand*) wants accessible electrical outlets – preferably at a desk AND ALSO next to the bed.
For me, it is also critical that hotels have in-room safes. I want to be able to leave the room and go outside for a run without carrying everything with me, or worry that it’s left out in a room.
I noticed brilliant feature at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto – It’s so simple – you can charge your gadgets while they are locked away because there’s an outlet right in the safe! Why isn’t this at more hotels?

They have power outlet in safe at Hyatt Singapore. Great idea.

That’s great to hear! They should have them at every hotel, don’t you agree? (unless it can cause some sort of hazard?)

There’s some small fire risk leaving anything plugged in (however small); but I’d guess most travelers care more about theft than power spikes. A lot of hotel safes are also not big enough to fit a laptop.

Lots of hotels have this feature. Should be all!

this was the first time I’d seen it – and anyone I mentioned it to said they’d never seen it. Glad to hear that some other hotels had it too.

I agree this feature would be great! Perhaps in a few years this would be available. Are safes fireproof? If so, then it shouldn’t be a fire hazard, right?

That is brilliant!
