When I travel, I often like to ask locals where to go. So, when I was in Austin recently, I asked the tattoo-laden cashier at Whole Foods Market if she had any recommendations. She directed us about a mile away to the Hope Campaign.
I had never heard of the Hope Campaign, but according to it’s website:
Our team is made up of producers, artists, musicians and designers who are passionate about bringing people together to support causes we believe in.
We create events that mobilize people to get involved and help projects and organizations around the world… HOPE provides ways for artists and musicians to collaborate and donate their talent and influence….
We found our way to the location – I looked up a hill to my left and saw an amazing array of colors!
This is a project of the Hope Campaign – the Hope Outdoor Gallery, or HOG, a three-story outdoor grass roots project of art, murals and graffiti located at 11th & Baylor Streets in Austin – one of the largest outdoor galleries in the USA. There’s nothing left unpainted, even the drain pipes and the garbage pails. I really love this gallery!
