I’ve been stuck in pandemic obsession and depression recently. So far, I’ve had to cancel two trips and it’s likely that I’ll have to cancel my Budapest trip next month too. And, although I’m a travel freak, I haven’t been planning many trips or thinking of travel – I’ve been too busy washing my hands and giving elbow bumps. To put it mildly, I’ve been in a bit of a fog.
NOTHING LIKE A NICE FARE TO CLEAR THE FOG!
Yesterday, a friend told me that flights from Budapest to many cities in the United States were around $800 Round Trip in Business Class on Sky Team carriers. I said, too bad it’s not the other way around and almost gave up. But then I thought, well, maybe I’ll move my April Budapest trip (which will probably be canceled anyway) to June (serendipitously, I made alternate reservations as the same hotel in Budapest in both April and June).
So. . . maybe the first flight could be my return flight for a June trip to Budapest? And then I thought, I could use the latter return BUD flight to kick off a trip to Europe for Thanksgiving (I like going to Europe for Thanksgiving).
So, it was back to the drawing board for me.
And there it was – flights on a combination of Delta, KLM and Air France – all in business class – for less than $800!
BUT WAIT!! THERE’S MORE!
A friend said, you can add a stopover to Hawaii in. What? So I started playing around more.
And you know what I discovered? If I tag a 4 night stay to HNL onto my trip, the price actually GOES DOWN to under $600 round trip all in business class!
BUD – HNL (4 nights)
HNL – EWR
then 4 months later . .
JFK – BUD (I’ll probably go from there to another city in Europe for Thanksgiving)
HOW I DID IT?
I started with Google Flights, and eventually booked directly on Delta. I guess I should go back and check on the aircrafts and business class product of each flight now, but . . . how bad can it be?
Stay safe and healthy my friends!

if you give me some dates, I’ll try to look it up for you.

I would be interested in more detail as well. Did you search for one way segments or multi city? What dates?
Will Run For Miles says
I started off searching straight round trips, bud-ny, bud -hnl, then started multi city searches.

Wish I could’ve gotten in on this. I think they’ve pulled the fares.
Will Run For Miles says
It looks like they’ve pulled HNL but as of a few minutes ago, I still saw fares to other North American cities

Just wanted to say thank you for posting this fare. I booked the wife and I yesterday from Budapest to LA for $800 per person. It looks like the fares only lasted one day so I am glad we jumped on it quickly. Now we just need to figure out where to jump off from Budapest.
Will Run For Miles says
I’m thrilled you were able to book this.
