I like culture and art – and, although I like going to museums, I really appreciate the recent movement to display art and historical events beyond the museums, such as at hotels or in airports.
Recently, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero in San Francisco. I was stricken by the size and beauty of the hotel. I learned that the hotel’s atrium lobby is the largest in the world – at over 42,000 square feet!
Every time I visit San Francisco, I plan to visit Alcatraz, but somehow I still haven’t done so. Knowing that, you can imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to find an exhibit, entitled Alcatraz, Life on the Rock right there in the atrium lobby of the Hyatt Regency! The exhibit, which is a traveling exhibit from Alcatraz Cruises is enormous, beautifully presented and educational.
I learned that Alcatraz was about a lot more than the Birdman and great prison escapes! The exhibit runs through October 25, 2013, and, if you live in, or are visiting San Francisco, I recommend a visit. And, for the record, I still plan on actually visiting Alcatraz on my next visit.
Below are some photos I took!
