Bilt/Alaska Airlines Collaboration – Alaska Visa Cardholders can Earn 3X Miles on Rent Payments via Bilt

I have to hand it to Bilt for thinking outside the box. Every time I turn around they have a new benefit or integration that takes me a little bit by surprise. They certainly deserve an A for creativity.

This time, they are integrating benefits with the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card.

If you hold a personal Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card (or were thinking of getting one), this news is for you. It may also have value for people who are members of airlines that partner with Alaska Airlines.

Effective today, all Alaska Airlines Visa Signature cardholders will be able to pay their rent through Bilt and earn 3X Alaska Miles per dollar of rent (up to a maximum of $50,000 per year). Cardholders will also be able to earn bonus Bilt Points when using their linked card on neighborhood spend through Bilt Dining, Lyft rides and Bilt’s fitness partnerships. There is a price to pay – 3% – but it may be worth it for cardholders who want to earn 3X miles.
How:
  • Alaska cardholders will need to enroll in Bilt Rewards and link their Visa Signature card to their Bilt account and use it to pay monthly rent through Bilt Rewards.
  • There is a 3% fee for Alaska Visa Signature cardholders to pay their rent with their card and 3X miles will be earned on the first $50,000 of annual rent (by calendar year) – they will continue to earn 1X miles after that.

This benefit applies only to the Alaska Airlines personal Visa Signature card. Existing Bilt Members who link an Alaska Visa Signature Card to their Bilt account will be served the attached modal that informs them of the new value prop.

Thus, by my estimation, if you spent $50,000 in rent in one year through this program, you would pay about $1500 in fees and earn approximately 150,000 miles. Worth it? Maybe.
