Superbowl 2014 will be in New Jersey in February 2014. If you are even thinking about going to it, now is the time to book your hotel.
While some people will stay near the Meadowlands, or perhaps, at airport hotels in Newark, New Jersey, many will choose to make a New York City weekend out of their visit.
We’re on the cusp of hotel booking – some hotels have not released rooms for early 2014, but others have. I’m already noticing hotel rooms that would ordinarily be $200-$300 per night, now being listed at $700-$800 per night.
Yesterday, I booked three nights at the Grand Hyatt New York for January 31, 2014 to February 3, 2014. The rate was $249 per night. Today the rate for the same nights is $566. It seems that most of the Hilton and Marriott properties have not yet opened. However, there is a Hampton Inn in Soho listed at over $1,500 per night. Huh?
One thing we know for sure is that those rooms will be gobbled up early and then sell for exorbitant rates. We can all predict the newspaper articles next year telling of the crazy prices people are paying for hotel rooms for Superbowl weekend.
If you’re positive you will be going to the Superbowl, then, by all means, book a non-refundable room. Otherwise, book one that’s available at a rate that can be canceled, and keep checking in the next few weeks and months for other rooms opening up. –>
