I just received an interesting offer from SPG – one that would’ve been even more exciting to many in the absence of the recent announcement of Starwood’s acquisition by Marriott.
EARN 2,500 BONUS STARPOINTS WITH
SPG KEYLESS.
Earn 2,500 bonus Starpoints® between November 20 and February 29, 2016, when you book and pay for a stay using your registered American Express® Card and use SPG Keyless™ at participating W®, Aloft® or Element℠ hotels. Terms and conditions apply
SPG Keyless sounds pretty cool – assuming it is secure.
This is what the SPG website says regarding the promotion:
OPEN THE DOOR TO BONUS STARPOINTS.
Earn 2,500 bonus Starpoints® between November 20 and February 29, 2016, when you book and pay for a stay using your registered American Express® Card and use SPG KeylessTM during that stay.*
Here’s how it works:
To earn 2,500 bonus Starpoints, follow these three simple steps:
-
Register for this offer.
-
Book a stay at a participating Keyless W®, Aloft® or ElementSM hotel and pay using your registered American Express Card.
-
Use SPG Keyless during your stay.
Assuming Starwood points will retain their value (and there is no reason to believe that they won’t – at least for the time being) this is a good offer. 2,500 points are valuable, and are not as easy to earn as some other hotel points. I am guessing that this is an attempt by SPG to retain the loyalty of it’s members. According to the terms, this bonus may only be applied once, and requires booking to be made and paid for using a registered American Express Card.
