This week, I attended a Tech event, sponsored by gdgt and engadget in New York City. I also attended this event last year (see post).
The event is great, a techie’s dream with loads of giveaways. I could compare the event last night to the one last year – last night they only gave one drink coupon whereas last year, the drinks were unlimited and there were hors d’oeuvres. Last year, I got lots of t-shirts and silly gadgets. This year I didn’t get as much swag, but what I did get, was substantial and worthwhile. But mainly, I’d say its all apples and oranges, because, although I’m still a novice techie, this year I understood so much more about technology than last year. Perhaps this is from the blogging, or from the world being more tech-oriented, or just from being more interested in the topic. But, this year, I went to many booths and had quasi-sophisticated discussions on how I can use the displayed products for travel, blogging, or running, or some combination of the three. In addition to company displays there were seminars and speeches on many current topics.
The event was held at a cool space in SoHo, and it was free, but early registration was required. The lines were long and it got crowded, so it was best to line up early. I was lucky, I was given a press/media pass, which entitled me to enter the event an hour earlier (thank you GoGo Inflight!).
Here’s a list of the “Lounge sponsors” of the event:
Platinum sponsors
Gold sponsors
Silver sponsors
Here are some photos I took of the event and exhibitors:
Here’s a collection of my schwag:
my schwag included this item from Samsung – I had to google to figure out that its a mini-speaker:

I like to travel to exotic places. I’m in the Republic of Georgia now after spending some time in Moldova. No techie problems in either, but……………
Tech Tip: Be sure you have necessary adapters and converters when going abroad! If not, you could be in for some problems in some countries.
