A few years ago, I bought a membership for the Brooklyn Museum on Groupon. I really enjoyed it. I particularly liked the special member-only opening receptions, catered with wine and food. We got to see the new presentations before they were open to the public and were treated to musical performances by artists such as Blondie.
What I really like about the Brooklyn Museum is that it is eclectic and not snooty. I find the exhibits interesting and thought-provoking. Moreover, unlike memberships to some local New York City Museums, a membership at the Brooklyn Museum includes a full array of benefits, including complimentary entry to the museum as well as free tickets to these opening receptions and discounts on events and classes and purchases from the Museum Store.
I noticed that there is a new Groupon for the Brooklyn Museum and I ran and bought it. It is $39 for individual membership (normally $60), or $49 for dual membership (normally, $90). At this rate, grab a friend and purchase the Groupon!
There’s a new exhibit about to open on Jean Paul Gaultier, entitled The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk. The launch reception is on October 24th, and, if you purchase the Groupon and activate the membership now, you can attend this reception. I know I’ll be there!
If you like museums, but the Brooklyn Museum is not what you fancy, there are many other museum deals currently listed on Groupon, such as the Museum of the Moving Image.
Here is a referral link for Groupon. If you would like to use that link, I may earn a small fee (and I thank you in advance).
