My father recently moved to a town in Massachusetts that is about 40 minutes from Boston. I’ve been trying to visit monthly and have been experimenting with both transportation (cars, trains or planes) and hotels for each visit. On my prior two visits, I stayed at the Hyatt Place Boston Braintree, which unfortunately is shutting down.
On my latest visit, I flew to Boston Logan Airport and stayed at the Hyatt Regency Boston. It is very convenient to South Station and everything in downtown Boston. Due to winter, the rate at this category 5 World of Hyatt hotel was incredibly reasonable, less than $100 per night.

We were upgraded to a one-bedroom suite on the 18th floor.
The first thing I noticed was that most rooms were oddly shaped. The bedroom and the bathroom, for example, were trapezoid shaped! The suite was fine, but, perhaps it was the weather, or just the color scheme, but it all felt drab to me. (I edited the photos but they still came out a little dark, I’m sorry)
The living room was nicely decorated with a sectional sofa, a television and a refrigerator. We were given at least two waters daily.
The bed was comfortable and there was a sitting area near the window. There were adequate electrical outlets.
The closet was located in the bathroom with the sink. The toilet and shower were in an adjoining room.
I was kind of obsessed with the faucet!
This was the view from our suite:
The hotel restaurant Avenue One is located on the same level as the lobby.
The restaurant is nicely decorated and has good seating. Breakfast is also served here.
The first night we each enjoyed a delicious bowl of clam chowder and some cocktails in the restaurant. The chowder was complimentary (see, Hyatt Regency Boston’s New Destination Fee: the Good, the Bad and the Chowdah). Of course, the drinks were not.
The next morning, after working out in the hotel gym (to be reviewed separately), we had breakfast at the restaurant. We were given a choice of ordering the breakfast buffet or ala carte item from the menu.
I chose the Maine Lobster Eggs Benedict from the ala carte menu. It was really good. Actually, I chose the lobster both mornings, except the second morning I asked to substitute lettuce and avocado for the bacon. I was also interested in the Blue Crab Hash. Maybe next time.
We had a very nice stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston. I would definitely stay here again.
On my next Boston visit, I will be trying out the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor, as it is a category 4 hotel, and I have a category 1-4 certificate to use.
