Late this summer, Won’t Run and I went to South America on vacation. We visited Iguazu Falls, Brazil and Lima, Peru.
In Lima, we stayed at the Radisson Decapolis Miraflores Hotel. I used Club Carlson points for two nights and paid the third night (taking advantage of a Club Carlson 30,000 points offer after one paid stay before August 31. 2015).
We arrived at the hotel after 10 p.m. and we were warmly greeted. This is artwork in the lobby:
The room was lovely. It was clearly an upgraded deluxe room. The following night we were moved to a junior suite on another floor (after I complained about some chemical odors in the hall). Both rooms were very nice and very similar, the primary difference being the addition of a couch and cocktail table in the suite. We also received some lovely amenities both the first night and the second.

The first night, after checking in, Won’t Run and I went to the bar on the first floor for our first official drink in Peru (not counting the Pisco Sour we enjoyed at the Lima airport on our way to Brazil). As a Club Carlson Gold member, we were allotted $10 per person towards drinks, so we had a welcome drink. The drink was a bit overpriced, but it was good. The lighting on the bar changed colors, reminding me of the Light Tunnel moving walkway at the airport in Detroit.
The hotel also has a rooftop pool bar – but the first night it was closed off for a private party and the second night it was cold out (August is technically still Winter so it gets cool at night).
The breakfast was awesome. I had just been to a hotel in Brazil with a disappointing breakfast, but this was FABULOUS. There was a really nice buffet, with meats, breads, cereals and fruits. The selection of fruit – both tropical and typical – was out of this world. In addition to the buffet, there was a menu, from which you could order one item. I enjoyed the Eggs Benedict. Won’t Run got daring and ordered a Peruvian breakfast item. He really enjoyed it!
In addition, one night the hotel invited us to a complimentary dinner at the restaurant. It was a special night.
I really enjoyed our stay at this Radisson. The property was great and spotless, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Everyone who worked at this hotel went out of their way to make certain we had everything taken care of. I do not hesitate in recommending it!
I know there is a lot said about safety issues in Lima, but we felt safe in the Miraflores district, both in the day and in the evening. It is really pretty in Miraflores and a wonderful place to run (post to follow). When we visited Central Lima, we did so on a tour (post to follow).
