In January, we visited Lisbon, Portugal and stayed at the Sheraton Lisboa Hotel & Spa. It was one of those quick weekend whirlwind trips, but we loved every minute in Lisbon and want to return ASAP.
Deciding where to stay was easy. I am a Gold Starwood member and I have the SPG Business Amex card (for entry to Sheraton Lounges). So, I booked two nights at the Sheraton Lisboa at a points and cash rate – 5,000 SPG points plus $75 per night.
The lobby is gargantuan! Upon entering the hotel, to your left is a large bar and restaurant area. Directly in front of the entrance is the front desk and concierge. We arrived around noon, were greeted warmly and were promptly checked into our room.
Our room was warm and comfortable.
oh, a non-modesty glass wall between the bath/shower and the bedroom!
The bathroom was very nice – except… well there were these … um… trapezoid toilet and matching bidet?
The view of the bedroom from the bathroom.
We received bottled water as well as a bottle of port wine as a welcome amenity. Later, we also received a plate of classic Portuguese pastries.
We had a really pretty view. looking over the many red roofs of Lisbon from our hotel window:
The Sheraton Club was very nice. This is where we had breakfast as well as evening cocktails and appetizers. It had a nice friendly ambiance – the kind of place where you easily strike up a conversation with other guests.
We particularly enjoyed the breakfast.
There was a great assortment of fresh breads and pastries.
Fresh fruit and muesli.
And smoked salmon with all the accoutrements.
Meats and cheeses.
Fresh Juices and bottled water.
Eggs, bacon and pancakes.
We also went to the Sheraton Club for appetizers and wine both evenings. Honestly, although the wine was fine, the appetizers were tasteless. Looking on the bright side, we still had our appetites for the great dinners we went to each evening.
I should mention that the Fitness Center at the hotel was amazing. That will be reviewed in a separate post.

I am a SPG Plat; will be lifetime this year. I stayed at this hotel twice (2012 AND 2013). During both stays I was upgraded to a generous suite; one had an amazing balcony.
However, my bone to pick is the spa area wanted to charge me access to use the steam, sauna and relaxation areas; the pool was free for all guests. I explained that access to the spa areas is a perk of SPG Plat status. However, they informed me that the spa area did not participate in that perk.
I’m curious to know if that policy is still in place.

Great hotel, I was upgraded to a nice suite. that said, the hotel is not in the historic part of town. just meant we had to take a 10 min uber (its really cheap in Lisbon) to wherever we were going. would probably stay there again but worth knowing.
