This is for all the Vegas lovers, especially those who are mourning the end of Hyatt’s relationship with the MGM family of hotels. A while back, it was announced that Rio Hotel & Casino would be joining with World of Hyatt (see, Rio Las Vegas to Become Hyatt Regency Las Vegas and other Hyatt hotels Too!). Today it was announced that, effective today, March 1, Rio Hotel & Casino, though still under construction, is fully participating in the World of Hyatt program allowing members to earn and redeem points for eligible stays in Las Vegas.
Phase one of the hotel’s two-phase renovation is expected to be completed in fall 2024, when the reimagined all-suite hotel will move into Hyatt’s Independent Collection under the Destination by Hyatt brand.
See, Press Release.
Rio Hotel & Casino is located at 3700 W. Flamingo Road, close to the Las Vegas Strip. It is a category 3 hotel, so award stays vary from 9,000 to 12,000 to 15,000 points. There is a $40 daily resort fee.

The hotel pool is still under renovation. I am not sure if there is a restaurant open yet.
The hotel is also participating in World of Hyatt’s Bonus Journey’s promotion. In addition, Hyatt is offering members 500 Bonus Points for every qualifying night at Rio Hotel & Casino from April 1 to June 30, 2024, as part of the new hotel bonus point offer. No registration is required and can be stacked with other offers.
I looked on the website, and note that the prices include the $40 resort fee. I am seeing rates as low as $62 per night. Since Globalist members would not be charged the resort fee, the actual rate for Globalists would be $22 per night (i.e., $62 – $40 = $22).
Curiously, the original announcement said that the property would be renamed as a Hyatt Regency, but I no longer such renaming mentioned.

This is only true on point stays. $$ stays still incur resort fees. Hyatt and Rio do not offer any status match opportunities ATM, nor do any other casinos with Rio. So until there is a match play or waived resort fees, it’s not an amazing deal for hyatt nights. Watching carefully if anything changes. You also do not get Hyatt points or stay credit if booked through Rio website/offers. Only when booking through Hyatt. So excitement about this is lukewam
