Let me preface this by saying that running the London Marathon has always been a goal of mine, and that, on Sunday, as I kept up with the running of the London Marathon on the internet, I wrote on a British friend’s Facebook page that we really have to run the London Marathon next year.
Well, it’s been announced that George Clooney plans to run the 2016 London Marathon! According to this news report in the Telegraph, Clooney made a bet: he promised Christy Turlington that he would run the London Marathon in 2016 if she finished the 2015 London Marathon in under four hours. Well, guess what? Turlington, who ran for her charity, Every Mother Counts, finished in 3:45!
I’ve tried to enter the lottery for the London Marathon a few times, with no success, but I’m now determined to make it happen in 2016. Hey, they even have an official blogger entry – maybe I can do that?
Here is information on registration for the 2016 London Marathon.
And here are the funniest costumes at the 2015 London Marathon care of BuzzFeed! Check out the hairy testicle below – ewwwwwwww! (photo: care of @Ruther2 on Twitter)

We were at the London Marathon this weekend. It was a blast! Maybe I will get off my fat a** one day and run in it. Ha!

Rats, can’t make it. I got in through Marathon Tours and mostly recommend that, just don’t let them plan flights for you. At the time, their low-end hotel was about $100 a night–small, but I did not do much but sleep there and so quite adequate and with a WONDERFUL breakfast bar included in the cost of the room. It was very close to a pub called the Three Tun–must go. It was very close to the Marble Arch tube stop on the red line.

Beth, I generally prefer to do my own planning than to leave it to the marathon tour operator groups. And, I’d rather use points and stay at a decent hotel than pay the money to them for mediocre lodging.
Having said that – did you have fun?
Beth Davenport says
Oh, yeah. I only mentioned it because MT has guaranteed entry to the race. It is an ‘in’ but not a perfect one. I totally get your point
EGM says
