UBER has introduced JUMP in selected cities (see list below).
JUMP is UBER’s latest transportation concept allowing you to find and rent an electric bike using your Uber app.
JUMP bikes are pedal-assist electric bikes, so the harder you pedal the faster you’ll go. An integrated GPS and lock means that you can find a bike near you, and go for a ride.
JUMP is currently available in Austin, Chicago,Washington D.C., NYC, Sacramento, Santa Cruz, San Francisco and will be available in Providence soon.
You can find a JUMP bicycle with your UBER app, and then UBER will text you a PIN to access the bike. There is also a JUMP app available on IOS and Google Play.
According to the email I received from UBER, you can book an electric assist JUMP bike for just $2 for 30 minutes in your Uber app.
Does anyone know if you can use UBER credits to pay for JUMP rentals? I’m thinking that the answer should be yes, but I don’t know.
Have you tried JUMP yet?

I have tried Jump in DC through the Uber app. It’s a neat service but it’s not entirely clear where it pulls Uber credit from. The charges come through as Jump Bike (not Uber) and it doesn’t qualify as a transportation-related service in terms of points (in case you’re wondering). The electronic assist is great, especially when you have some hilly terrain. The only problem thus far is people who leave the bikes all over the place, though this seems to be a problem with some of their cheaper competitors rather than Jump.
The only thing that really prevents me from using them is that there’s no membership option (the ubiquitous Capital Bikeshare system allows members to take unlimited 30-minute rides for $85/year or $8/month). Jump/Uber doesn’t even allow you to load credit, and a series of $2 charges are on your statement just become annoying.
