View have to be quidding me!!
British humour meets hotel marketing!
The British super-budget hotel chain easyHotel, that offers a great night’s sleep from as little as £19.99 a night, has a new marketing campaign: for one British Pound Sterling – £ – a quid – you can upgrade your room to one with a view.
A FAKE VIEW, that is!
The hotel now offers fake window views of iconic London landmarks for guests at its Old Street Hotel in London’s East End. For £1, customers can ‘upgrade’ to a view of Tower Bridge or Buckingham Palace.
The rationale is that the views enable guests to experience the majesty of some of the city’s finest landmarks without having to pay a premium for a fancy view.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve often had murals or pictures on my hotel walls featuring local highlights and I’ve never had to pay a premium for that!
Nevertheless, this cracks me up, in a Benny Hill kind of way. Actually, I think it’s a good marketing campaign because it makes many people who never heard of easyHotel before, now aware of the hotel chain.
