I recently had a lackluster stay at the Royal Park Hotel at Haneda Airport (see, Hotel Review: Haneda Airport – Where We Stayed vs Where We Should Have Stayed). I had chosen the Royal Park because it is located in the International Terminal (Terminal 3) at Haneda Airport. I thought it was the only full service hotel there. I was wrong. A new hotel (actually two related hotels), recently opened that is also connected to Terminal 3.
Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Haneda Airport, and it’s upscale luxury hotel sister property Hotel Villa Fontaine Premier Haneda Airport opened a few months ago. Villa Fontaine (or VF, for short) is a small hotel chain with approximately 20 hotels in Japan. Roughly speaking, the nightly rate at VF Grand is similar to that of Royal Park Hotel, and the rate at VF Premier is about $100 more per night.
If only I had known, I would have stayed at one of the VF Haneda hotels instead of the Royal Park Hotel!
Haneda Airport Garden (a new shopping mall with 60 stores and 20 restaurants) and the VF hotels can be accessed from the passage leading to the arrival lobby on the 2nd floor of terminal 3.
And get this – there’s a hot spring (onsen) on the roof of the hotels, with views of the airport and of Mt. Fuji! This might be good competition for the rooftop infinity pool at JFK’s TWA Hotel!
The VF Grand Hotel:
The VF Grand is a massive airport hotel, with over 1,700 rooms! The rooms are not particularly large or extravagant, but they are modern and new, and certainly much nicer than my crappy $200 room at Royal Park Hotel.
I really liked the concept of the Ladys hotel rooms!

The VF Premier Hotel:
The VF Premier is the luxury hotel with 160 rooms/suites. This is the bedroom of the Fontaine Suite.
Now I want to go back to Haneda Airport just so I can stay at a Villa Fontaine hotel!

Onsens are great. That’s where I learned the sulfur in those waters clear up rosacea.
