Many American Express Business Platinum cardholders received an email from Amex offering a bonus of 50,000 Membership Reward Points. Happily, I was one of those people.

The terms are set forth in the email, and there’s no need to register, the offer is automatically added to the Card.

The deal is fairly simple: earn 40,000 points after spending $5,000, and another 10,000 points after spending another $5,000. The time period for this offer is the three-month period beginning July 15th and ending October 15th.

50,000 points is a great bonus. That’s at least one round trip flight somewhere. Time to dust off the card!

For the $10,000 spend, I will likely pay my co-op maintenance via Plastiq. Although Plastiq charges a 2.5% fee, I will earn 1.5 Membership Rewards points per dollar since I will be making a purchase of more than $5,000. Thus, for a fee of $250, I will earn 50,000 plus an additional 15,000 Membership Reward points.
