As a Diamond Hyatt Gold Passport member, breakfast at the Opera Restaurant at the Park Hyatt Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam was included in our stay. We loved everything about the breakfast and looked forward to it each day!
The decor of the restaurant was upscale and pretty, yet comfortable and relaxed. You could choose to be seated in the dining room or in a sunroom-type of room. The centerpiece was the open kitchen where you could see the employees preparing the food. The buffet was arranged in a horseshoe format around this area.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. Breakfast was served until 10:30 a.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on weekends, which gave us a chance to run or walk around before enjoying this meal, which for us, was more like lunch than breakfast.
The Restaurant:
Open kitchen and prep area:
The breakfast buffet:
fresh juices. I really loved the watermelon juice!
fabulous selection of breads and pastries
freshly baked breads, pretzels . . . etc.
in a refrigerated unit, a selection of meats, cheeses, yogurts, etc.
plenty of freshly cut fruits and condiments
various freshly prepared salads (the papaya salad was particularly delicious)
assortment of traditional hot breakfast items, such as eggs, sausages, bacon and potatoes
assortment of cereals and muesli
Menu Items:
In addition to the buffet, our breakfast also included a choice of one item from the menu. The menu had a selection of about 5 conventional breakfast items (such as omelettes or eggs Benedict), and about 5 Vietnamese items. The traditional breakfast items on the menu were okay, but the Vietnamese choices were the way to go! Each day we chose 2 Vietnamese breakfast items from the menu and shared them, and they were phenomenal!
Com Tam – pork over broken rice with a fried egg
Are you hungry now?

That is not Pho. It’s Bun Bo Hue. Love this hotel’s breakfast too.

Leon, you’re right! I overgeneralized the soup – I’ll note the corrections in the post. thanks.

Great breakfast and an even great hotel. Once I arrived early well before the official check-in time, they apologized profusely for not having my room ready (which wasn’t their fault at all!) and invited me to have breakfast on the house. Wow. And my DSU suite was further upgraded to one category above the entry-level suite.
I must say though we used to be able order more than one items per person from the hot items menu so it’s a bit disappointing that now this is limited to 1 hot item per guest.

I also had an amazing upgraded suite. I’ll post it in the next few days. as for the breakfast, I don’t think i could’ve ordered more than we did.
