Welcome back Radisson! Manhattan was devoid of Radisson hotels for a while, but that has now changed! There are now two Radissons and soon there will be three!

About a year ago, the Country Inn and Suites in Long Island City, Queens disappeared. No one cared too much, and few even noticed, as this property had become quite run down. At that time, Radisson promised a new construction hotel in Long Island City, but that never came to fruition, at least not as a hotel of the Radisson Hotel Group (see, One Hotel Disappears and a New One is on the Way).

And then there was the Radisson Martinique hotel. For quite some time, it was a favorite for Radisson members visiting Manhattan. It was centrally located on West 32nd St. and convenient to everything in midtown Manhattan. Then to the members’ chagrin, the property abruptly changed management – it became a Hilton Curio hotel, leaving New York City with no Radisson hotels, except for the Radisson Hotel at JFK Airport.

In March 2018, Radisson introduced its new loyalty program Radisson Rewards and simultaneously, as part of it’s global expansion, announced plans for the construction of a new flagship Radisson hotel in New York City, the Radisson Hotel New York Times Square, located at 525 Eighth Avenue in Manhattan. We didn’t hear much about it after that.

Last month, two new Radisson hotels opened, one in midtown and one in the financial district.

MIDTOWN LOCATION

The Radisson Hotel New York Midtown-Fifth Avenue has 230 hotel rooms and is located at 25 West 51^st Street.

But How Are the Prices?

So far they look really good. I checked the prices for each, and they are quite reasonable especially for New York City. Using a random date of November 15 – 16, 2019, this is what I found.

OPENING SOON – TIME SQUARE

I’m really looking forward to the opening of the new flagship Radisson Hotel Times Square, located at 525 Eighth Avenue, close to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. The hotel, which has 320 rooms, is expected to open in December, and you can already make reservations!!! Prices are reasonable – mostly hovering at around $200, but sometimes lower or higher. Using a random date of December 20, 2019, I found a rate of $151!
