There is an upcoming seminar at Tekserve on Monday, January 28th at 6pm, entitled Using Tech To Train For a Marathon or 5K. Unfortunately, I can’t make it, because I’ll be in a plane, but I wish I could go. It sounds like fun – something I’d love to attend and to cover on this blog. Maybe they’ll have the program again – but if you’re available, I urge you to go. The event description states:
Join us at Tekserve on January 28th for a special seminar where you’ll learn how you can use your tech to prepare for a marathon or just get into better shape for the new year. Tekserve’s own Michael T., a 5-time marathon veteran will take you through the gear and apps he uses to train and will provide you with valuable tips you can use to supercharge your training routine. We’ll cover:
- The best apps for run training and overall health
- All the gear you’ll need to get the most out of your training
- Best practices for your run training
If you go and submit a review to me, I’ll gladly publish it. Tekserve is located at 119 West 23rd Street, NY, NY.

Hi Kathy,
I’ll be in town, and you’ve piqued my interest. I’d be happy to do a write up, but (full disclosure), I’m a fat American and more interested in apps for 5K training.

that would be great! I thought about making an earlier flight home on monday, but it would kill the entire last day in florida. Look for my post tomorrow about – what I think is – a fun quirky cool app for 5K training. There is also the classic program called “couch to 5K” – you can find it online at http://www.coolrunning.com or in an app on iTunes.

I love couch to 5K! I’m not following the program right now, but it helped me start running in the first place. One of my friends (another adult-onset athlete) just ran 5K for the first time in her life thanks to the program.
Don’t give up a day in Florida! Every last minute of sunshine is worth it.
