I love booking Hyatt hotels using the points and cash rate – particularly for category 1- 4 hotels! Points and cash stays are dynamite . . . when I can find availability. As a Hyatt Diamond Gold Passport, I am always working on trying to re-qualify for the next year – points and cash stays are reasonably priced and count toward the required stays or nights requirement.
Researching points and cash availability can be very tedious. Take a stay in Chicago for example. Let’s say I want to see which hotels have points and cash availability on a given weekend. Let’s pick a hard weekend – October 7-9th, the weekend of the Chicago Marathon.
If I want to research AAA or Government rate or a specific corporate rate, I need only tick the rate box or fill in the corporate rate number, and click go, and voila – I’ll have a list of all of the Chicago area hotels offering that rate on the dates in question.
Researching points and cash availability however is a multi-step task. I have to click on each hotel and check individually for points and cash availability, then go back and check the next hotel. This can be a time-consuming process and a PITA.
Well, the other day, I was doing exactly what I described — going through the list of local hotels one by one to see which ones offered points and cash rates – – and I stumbled upon a corporate rate I didn’t recognize. I investigated a little further, and lo and behold, it’s the holy grail of points and cash research!
This is it: ————> 51440
This simplifies the process. 51440 is the code for points and cash availability. Only one search is necessary! You can tell immediately which hotels offer points and cash – those with rates of $50, $55, $75, etc.
Surprisingly, the weekend of the Chicago Marathon, a number of Hyatt Hotels have cash and points rates available including, among others, the Hyatt Place Downtown, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place and even the Park Hyatt!
Did you know about 51440????

Good find, Kathy! I tried it for Boston during marathon weekend and it did not work for any of the properties. It showed the hotels but when I hit the hotel to book, it was saying that the rate was not available. Did you find this on any of your searches?
Will Run For Miles says
it can still be wonky sometimes. Try adding an extra day before or after. Some hotels require a two day reservation (but often later you can “adjust” this via the diamond line…..)

I did try that as well. I think you are right, they have had some issues with P+C availability since they rolled it out online last year and maybe I just picked the “right” properties for those issues! Again, nice find!
Will Run For Miles says
of course the Boston Marathon is in a month, so the bigger question is why don’t you have a hotel already? As I see it, only Burlington is available, but that’s pretty far.
Charlie says
I’m not going. 🙂 Race weekends like that are my first test case for things like this since I can see availability on a normally difficult scale.
Will Run For Miles says
me too – that’s why I chose Chicago Marathon weekend for my search.

A bit late to the party – and, to be honest, to Hyatt stays – but this should be very helpful, esp. now that I have and have been using the Hyatt CC. Thanks for sharing this great tip.

I’ve booked a lot of Cash & Points stays before and I’ve actually always noticed at the last screen of the reservation at the bottom of the description of the room there was one line that showed the corporate code 51440, it never really crossed my mind to try searching for hotels using that code and lo and behold it reveals all the hotels with cash & points, crazy!
