As I reported in an earlier post today, there is a Hyatt summer promotion whereby you can receive 1,500 United Airlines miles per Hyatt stay, beginning with the second stay, and capped at 14 stays, for stays between May 1st and August 31st . I learned of that promotion via an email from United Airlines today, and it did not dawn on me that this was part of a larger summer promotion that many bloggers reported on in late April – early May. This post is nevertheless worthwhile for those who do not keep up with the frequent flyer posts on a regular basis, including many of the runner/fitness readers of this blog.
Here are some updates:
1. This promotion is not limited to United Airlines. The following airlines have comparable 3X promotions: American Airlines, British Airlines, Japan Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa, Air China, ANA, Jet Airways and Southwest Airlines. Loyalty Lobby has all of the links.
2. To take part in the promotion, you must register for one airline and opt for miles rather than points (although you can change back and forth).
Thus, if you have a bunch of inexpensive single night stays, you might earn more to opt for miles rather than points.
I am tempted to sign up and get more British Airways Avios. Avios are like candy to me, and I have a sweet tooth. Then again, this all seems so complicated, I’m not sure that it is worth the effort.
What are your thoughts?

Do we get hyatt points in additional to the miles? Do i have to provide my united mileage account# during checkin? I have stayed 4 stays since May 1st, but since i didn’t know about this promo, i didn’t provide my account# when i checkout, wondering can i go back and request for it?

Hi Carol. You must choose between points or miles. The representative I spoke to seemed to say that you can retroactively sign up for the promo and choose miles. Why don’t you call Hyatt and speak to a customer rep and let us know the result? thanks.
