This weekend – October 11-12 is OPEN HOUSE NEW YORK!
12th Annual Open House New York Weekend October 11-12, 2014
From historic homes, to houses of worship, to think tanks, to universities, to theaters, the list of participating sites that are open this weekend seems endless (some requiring reservations, others not).
One site open on Saturday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m, is the iconic TWA Flight Center at JFK Terminal 5 which was designed in 1962 byEero Saarinen. I’m really looking forward to this as TWA was my “first” loyalty airline and the terminal is way cool! The TWA Flight Center is considered “[o]ne of the most famous icons of mid-century modernism, the TWA Flight Center, beautifully restored over the last six years, is on the National Register of Historic Places.” On Saturday, Jim Steven, Manager of JFK’s Physical Plant and redevelopment of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will be present. No reservations are necessary to visit.
WHO IS GOING?
ME! Also, the Meetup Group of the local NYC group, Reach for the Miles.
Skip the Airtrain – Save $5
How to get there? You can take the Airtrain, or save $5 bucks (especially since you won’t have luggage) by taking the Airtrain/Q10 combo. All the details are HERE. And here’s the current Q10 bus schedule – which runs very frequently on Saturday.
ARE YOU TECHIE?
There’s an app on Android and iTunes: Open House New York Weekend App
Also, you can check the Q10 bus in real time online or on an app MTA Bus Time
So, will you be going to any of the OHNY sites? Will you visit the TWA Flight Center?
