I have written no less than 3 posts concerning the new Hyatt Place under construction in Long Island City, Queens. The location is literally across the East River from Manhattan, easily accessible by car or public transportation and fairly close to JFK and LGA airports.

In fact, this past Sunday, when I was driving to Long Island to visit my parents, I saw that the hotel is basically abutting the exit ramp of the 59th Street Bridge!

At least since May, the World of Hyatt website indicated that reservations were being accepted from October 27th forward. But, we all know these dates usually get pushed back a few times.
Well, I just checked, and it appears that reservations are being accepted for stays beginning tomorrow – October 19th (my birthday!). So, whether this is a soft opening or an official opening, the hotel is opening a 8 days ahead of schedule. Also, I now see that one can book point award stays for 8,000 World of Hyatt points at the hotel again (it was blocked for a long time). (points and cash stays are still unavailable).
