Today is Amazon Prime Day, and like the Black Friday phenomenon, everyone else is attempting to jump on the bandwagon. And why not? This is capitalism at it’s best, right? Calling it Christmas in July, July Cyber Monday, or whatever other catchy phrase Madison Avenue creates, many commercial enterprises are hoping to entice us with bargains so exciting that we can’t help but pull out our credit cards and charge, charge, charge! I haven’t written much about it because websites like Doctor of Credit and Frequent Miler have done such a good job. (In truth, I might’ve written more had I not been busy at work all day). Plus, what bargains did you really find? I bought a $50 iTunes card for $40 and a $25 Amazon Gift card that promises a $5 rebate. (I already have various Alexa contraptions that I bought during prior Prime Days that are still in their original boxes) (Alexa, do I really need more of these?)
But I digress. I’m here to tell you about a Hyatt-branded offer, that isn’t a World of Hyatt offer or sale. It’s a Destination Hotel sale brought to you by Hyatt.
(What?)
Here are the details:
Starting today, July 15, The Destination Hotels brand is beginning its Countdown to Winter promotion. For a limited time, guests can save up to 35% off their stay at 22 participating Destination properties. In order to receive the discount, guests can simply use the promotion code COUNTDOWN when booking an eligible stay between July 15 and October 31, 2019, and the period for completing them will vary by property. No registration is required and the offer is subject to availability.

World of Hyatt has made it clear that this Destination Hotel brand offer is separate from the upcoming integration of eight Destination locations soon joining the World of Hyatt loyalty program starting August 20, 2019 which I wrote about here. While more locations are expected to join later this year, I was told that the inclusion of any Destination hotels in the Countdown to Winter special DOES NOT indicate, in any way, that these hotels will be joining the World of Hyatt loyalty program. To make it clear, at least as of this date, you will not receive World of Hyatt loyalty benefits or stay credits if you stay at any of the Destination Hotels, other than the eight Destination Hotels that will be integrated into World of Hyatt that have been announced. But, you will likely receive a really nice stay at a really nice hotel at a nice sale rate.
So, I guess we’ll just have to continue to wait and see.
