Through June 30, 2012, American Express is giving away $25 Amex Gift cards when you get an Amex Prepaid Card and load it with $200.
you can get the card HERE. Once you click on the “Get Your Card for Free” link, you’ll see on the top of the next page that it says:
Complimentary $25 Gift Card
When you order an American Express® Prepaid Card and load $200 or more at the time of order.
This is obviously Amex’s way of encouraging people to try their new prepaid card. And, why not, its given the same respect by merchants as is the typical American Express card? I will take advantage of this offer.
Certain bloggers are reporting ways to utilize this offer to earn additional points or miles. If you are interested, I encourage you to take a look at the posts by the Frequent Miler.
The information on how to “load” the card is here. You can purchase the prepaid card and load it directly from your bank account. Even more interesting is to purchase reloadable cards using the Vanilla Reload network. There are stores that sell Vanilla Reload cards. Often these stores, such as Office Depot, will accept credit cards for the purchase of Vanilla cards. This would be valuable if you are trying to meet a spend requirement on another credit card, or you have a Chase Ink Bold Card. (note: I’m told that the NYC Office Depot has stopped selling Vanilla Cards, but I am going to keep checking).
My feeling on this – its a win, win deal. Go for it!
Please note: Will Run For Miles may have a financial relationship with some of the merchants advertised on the blog, and may receive compensation if consumers utilize the links located on this site and generate sales therefrom

Does a prepaid card require a credit check like a regular credit card?
(Kathy) Will Run For Miles says
good point – since its prepaid, no credit check is required.
