There is a new Hyatt House Hotel opening in New York City in January 2017. I did not know about it until I was looking for stays in NYC and it popped up on the screen – The Hyatt House New York/Chelsea.
It looks like a really nice hotel, and I love staycations so I started looking around on the website for prices and availability. The availability is good and the prices are reasonable by New York City standards, often at or under $200 per night. Unfortunately, I could not find any points and cash rates, but I was able to book a few award stays. Only 8,000 points. And that includes many of the suites. So, I decided to book a few stays.
Only one problem: for every night I made an 8,000 point award booking, Hyatt’s wonderful IT system took out 20,000 to 40,000 points, and some of the reservations have not shown up on my account even though points were taken out. I wanted to make more reservations, but suddenly my points were nearly all depleted – and there were plenty of points in my account this morning. Yikes.
Oh, Hyatt, I’m glad that your hotels are better than your computer systems!
Whatever the case may ultimately be, this is what shows up on the computer screen when I try to make a reservation.
Any plans to visit NYC early next year?

Quite the find Kathy. Someone with loads of Hyatt points can get $500 to $600 per night rooms on 8,000 points award nights. I don’t have enough points to argue that case.
I’d love to give it a try though.
I checked dates May 2017 and found 8K for every room type.

Tried to book a 2 night stay in May 2017 and got an error that said “Due to the policies associated with this reservation, it cannot be viewed or modified on-line.” Points were not deducted and no reservation e-mail…

This is an awesome find especially at 8,000 points per night. Would you consider this a great location for sight seeing? We’re planning a NYC trip in summer of 2017, and I have enough points to stay at Park Hyatt NYC or Hyatt Times Square, but I’d rather stretch my points if this would work. I’ll have a 10 yr old and 13 yr old in tow with us as well. Thanks.

FYI – This is an error on the site and Hyatt is currently working to upgrade it to reflect 20,000 points. Hurry and book now!

Did you call to get it corrected or are you laying low? lol 🙂 I doubt a new Hyatt in Chelsea is supposed to be a Category 2, so the 20,000 is likely the correct amount.
Keep us posted as to how it turns out.
