On a perfect evening in late Spring, I attended an outdoor workout event for fitness influencers at the Rockefeller Park section of Battery Park in lower Manhattan sponsored by Merrell Outside.
There were essentially three stages to the event. First, check-in and meet and greet. There was a tent set up and plenty of friendly representatives on hand. Each registrant received a tech shirt . .
a very versatile buff . . .
and pair of Merrell’s newest fitness shoes – Bare Access Flex – a lightweight conditioning shoe specifically created for hybrid performance (“experience ultimate versatility, comfort, and ground connection on the trail, road, and beyond”).
Then it was time for the workout – led by the awesome Rob Sulaver of Rumble Boxing.
It was challenging, but fun, and there was a good spirit among all the participants. I’ll admit it – the workout kicked my butt, but I persevered.
As a special reward, I saw a spectacular sunset over the Hudson River.
Speaking of special rewards – post workout we were treated to good conversation and an assortment of tacos and beer from Montauk Brewing Company.
That dog sure looked like he wanted some of our tacos!
I love outdoor workouts and events such as this. I got to run and jump and sweat – and have fun and meet new people – all at the same time! Merrell sure throws a great party workout!
One last note: I am fascinated with the Bare Access Flex shoes. They are as light as air, but they are surprisingly supportive. In addition to using them for workouts, they will be perfect for travel. They weigh next to nothing (and I mean nothing – – I have flip flops that weigh more!). I envision wearing them for miles and miles of sightseeing (as well as for working out) without my feet hurting or getting tired.

Good to know about the shoes! I’m always on the hunt for something supportive. I bought my first pair of Merrells a few months ago and I love them! They’re hiking shoes though, which I’ve been using for sightseeing in addition to hiking, mainly for the support/waterproof factor. They’re heavy though. I can always use a good pair of shoes where I can walk miles and miles. I tried some Teva and Kean sneakers and they were no good. I’ll check these out!
