This is a quick post – I’m so excited, I’m shaking.
Last night and this morning, I saw a number of posts about flights from NYC to Kuala Lumpur for around $300-$350 on ANA.
This morning, a friend wrote me on chat about it, and I said No, I don’t have enough vacation time, etc. etc. ya da ya da.
Well, then I looked further and saw that an open jaw was possible, so that I could fly to Kuala Lumpur and fly home out of another Southeast Asia city. I played around with the dates and came up with one in mid-April with the flight home out of Bangkok that worked for me. I booked it on Expedia for $345.
In the meantime, I started researching other possibilities in the event that my boyfriend wanted to go. He is a teacher so his travel dates are limited to Easter week. I found a possibility – April 1 – April 9 flying to Kuala Lumpur and coming home out of Manila. The boyfriend wasn’t certain so I went back to plan A.
I did a little research and found that the price was now $276 on a number of reputable sites, such as Orbitz, and on the ANA website itself.
$276!!!
On Expedia, the price had gone down from $345 to $309. I called for a price match. Unfortunately, much to my dismay, Expedia tanked it’s price guarantee policy one week ago (WHAT?), or I would have been entitled to $50 from Expedia! Expedia only offered to reduce the price to $309, so I canceled the Expedia reservation without penalty (as I had booked it this morning).
I proceeded to the Orbitz website and rebooked the same itinerary for $276.
I haven’t been to either Malaysia or Thailand yet! I think I’ll wait a little while before committing to any further expenses relating to this trip, as we all know the possibilities.
Update: ticket has been issued.
