This is unbelievable! Remember the other day when I posted about the $276 airfare I snagged on ANA going from New York JFK to Kuala Lumpur and returning home from Bangkok? Remember how we all said – hurry, this will be gone in a second?
Well, guess what? There are plenty of good ANA airfares still around!
ROUND TRIP FARES
There are still round trip fares from New York to Kuala Lumpur for under $310. From there, you could explore Malaysia, or catch some cheap flights to other cities in Southeast Asia.
OPEN JAWS
I also found a number of open jaws still available at really cheap prices where you fly to Kuala Lumpur and return from another Southeast Asia City.
Fly from NYC to Kuala Lumpur, return from Manila for $320
Fly from NYC to Kuala Lumpur, return home from Bangkok for $275 (note: prices for these dates jumped up to over $500 while I was typing. perhaps other days still work for cheaper rate)
Fly from NYC to Kuala Lumpur, return home from Ho Chi Minh City for $420
there may be cheaper variations – this is just what I found from some simple searches.
Choosing hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok
As for me, I will be going to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
The next question is where to stay? Some of my friends are going on the same itinerary as I am on. They prefer SPG and I like both SPG and Hyatt.
So, in Kuala Lumpur it will likely be either the Sheraton Imperial or the Grand Hyatt.
The choices for Bangkok are broader – the Grand Hyatt Erawan or the Park Hyatt or the Le Meridien or the Royal Orchid Sheraton, to name a few.

So tempted! Thanks for alerting us that this is still on, at least as of when you posted. Problem is that I’m hoping my SO will retire on April 1 and we are thinking of doing a big trip. But he hasn’t committed to that date and we haven’t made any concrete plans. Also living on the west coast, I may be better off waiting for a good fare that leaves from closer to home, of which there have been a decent number recently. Also not sure I want to fly coach. Talk about first-world problems!
In the meantime, we are planning a trip during Dec. to someplace warm. Hope to take advantage of the IHG PointBreaks.
So excited for your plans!

you are definitely better off waiting for a West Coast deal.
my SO has wanted to retire since I met him, but he probably will in another year and a half.
I also would prefer not to fly coach, but I’m willing to do so if it means going somewhere I want to go at a price that makes it real.

Grand Hyatt over Sheraton in KL hands down!
Grand Hyatt in KL over everything.
Doubletree is in second place for the deal -10k HH points.
Don’t have breakfast in the Hyatt KL lounge, have it in the restaurant. Don’t miss the evening spread in the lounge though.
