A few years ago, I visited Prague and was fortunate to stay at the Radisson Blu Alcron Hotel. I loved it. This Art Deco hotel had the perfect Bohemian old world elegance and charm!

But then, last week, I received an email from Almanac Hotels in which it announced a new hotel:
The award-winning Alcron Prague will bring its authentic 1932 Art Deco style into the modern era and be rebranded as Almanac Alcron in 2020/21. The central location is close to the city’s most compelling sites and attractions, and the hotel’s 204 rooms offer amazing views.
The photos are nice – this is a spec of what the Presidential Suite will look like:
Could this be my Radisson Blu Alcron or is it an entirely new hotel that will share the Alcron name? With a little research, I found the answer.
On the website of the hotel owner, WSF Group, I found this:
The hotel is currently being operated by Rezidor under the Radisson Blu Brand. The hotel will be completely renovated and rebranded in 2019. Under the Almanac Hotels standards it will be operated as Almanac Alcron Prague from 2019 onwards.
I’m sure the hotel renovations will be beautiful, but I’m still sad to see this hotel leave Radisson Hotel Group’s management.
At present, in addition to the Radisson Blu Alcron, there is a Park Inn hotel in Prague. I wonder what other plans Radisson Hotel Group has in the works for Prague?
Oh, no, is right! We spent 2 nights at the Alcon in Fall 2016 and thanks to the status that came with our Club Carlson CCs, we were treated like royalty. Room upgrade, complimentary drinks and strudel in the bar on arrival while the marketing manager chatted with us about visiting Prague, breakfast buffet included despite the fact they technically didn’t include it with our reservation, 6 PM checkout when they learned our flight was not til 9 PM and more treats in the bar while we waited for our ride to the airport, welcome gift and a bag of departing goodies. It was amazing. Partially due to the coincidence of the manager being there when we checked in, I think we lucked out, but we couldn’t have wished for more. In fact we remain FB friends with her! Very sad to see this affiliation change.
Whoops, Alcron!
