You know I love street art and public art, right? Sacramento, California is heaven for anyone who likes street art – on every street, on buildings, in back alleys, even on utility boxes – there is street art. And, it’s not just graffiti (though there’s plenty of that too), it’s high quality art from some of the top names in street artistry.
The prevalence and quality of the street art is attributable in large part to Wide Open Walls, an annual street art festival where top artists are invited to Sacramento to create art. What can I say, except that I was blown away by it all? There are maps, including interactive maps detailing locations of artwork, but I decided to wing it by just walking around the streets and seeing what I could find. I’m including photos of my discoveries below. I will try to include names of the artists. Feel free to identify artists’ names in the comments and I will continue to update the post.
And so, without further adieu, here’s some of my favorite artwork I saw in Sacramento.
