On our last morning in Buenos Aires, I dragged Won’t Run For Miles Won’t Run For Miles and I went out for a walk. I wanted some exercise and to show him the Flower “Floralis Genérica” that I’d seen on a prior day’s run and fallen in love with. Floralis Genérica is a sculpture made of steel and aluminum, which was a gift to the city by architect Eduardo Catalano. The petals actually open and close!

Continuing on our walk, we came across a park area not far from Recoleta Cemetery. I was surprised to see that the playground structures were actually a circuit of brightly colored fitness equipment. I didn’t see any hard-core fitness buffs doing the circuit, but I did observe some people who probably stopped to use the equipment while talking to one another at the end of a morning walk or run. Most of the equipment was self-explanatory. Some, less so, and the instructions in Spanish weren’t of much help to me. Mostly, I just thought it was neat and wanted to share it.

While, honestly, I would not suggest that anyone should give up their gym memberships in favor of this circuit playground equipment, still it was interesting to see. Plus, its always positive when “fun” and “fitness” are promoted together.
