You probably know by now that the World of Hyatt brand Andaz is one of my favorite hotel brands. It is an elegant lifestyle brand that is artsy, quirky and friendly all at once!
When one or more different Andaz hotels get together for a joint party or celebration, the fun really begins. This week the team from the Andaz Mayakoba in Mexico visited Andaz 5th Avenue in New York City to show us how the Day of the Dead (El Dia de Los Muertos) is really celebrated.
The evening was festive and authentic.
Andaz team members from north and south of the border were all on hand to discuss all that Andaz Mayakoba has to offer. I got to meet Andaz Mayakoba’s General Manager, Pascal Dupuis, among others, and tasted the delicious food prepared by Andaz Mayakoba’s Executive Chef, Miguel Gomez. The food – from mole, to pork, to cerviche, and everything in between – was exquisite!
I even got to see the Mayakoba’s gifted artist, Senkoe, in action.
And, at the end of the evening, we each got to take home our own pan de muerto – a traditional sweet bread eaten during the Dia de los Muertos festivities.
