Last week, I attended a press conference presented by Lufthansa Group. This panel presentation and group discussion included senior executives from Lufthansa Group (Frank Naeve, Lufthansa Group Vice President of Sales for The Americas, Heike Birlenbach, Senior Vice President Sales, Lufthansa Hub Airlines) and was moderated by Tal Muscal, Director of Group Communications, The Americas. The discussion touched on various topics concerning the airline industry in general, and the future of the airlines comprising the Lufthansa Group, in particular, including their plans in the aviation market, cooperation between various Star Alliance carriers, and various innovation projects, such as biometrics and voice recognition. The panelists also touched on the development of the Premium Economy product, opportunities for expansion in the Americas, and the joint efforts with United and Air Canada in the transatlantic market.
The choice of venue was outstanding! THE TWA LOUNGE ON THE 86TH FLOOR OF ONE WORLD TRADE CENTER!!
The TWA Lounge is so amazing!

Lufthansa Group’s panelists:
The main room is decorated to look just like the iconic JFK terminal! The sunken lounge is carpeted in Chili Pepper Red, the signature color created by Saarinen for the TWA Flight Center, and the inspiration for Benjamin Moore’s 2018 Color of the Year, Caliente!
How about this view?
The lounge was filled with many wonderful TWA posters filled with memories!
There were a few rooms off of the main room, each decorated with TWA memorabilia and Eero Saarinen designs. Talk about time-tripping!
Music of the times!
Tons of TWA books and other memorabilia!
One final room was dedicated to the floor plans and designs of the TWA Hotel opening this week.
I even got some postcards and TWA wings (I have some extras – should I do a giveaway?).
The TWA Hotel officially opens at JFK Airport this Wednesday. I’ll be paying a visit as soon as I can.

Lovely. I wish that something similar could have been done with Worldport.

Wow! Thank you for this post, Kathy, it is truly eye candy for me. I remember my TWA employee dad’s excitement when they were building the terminal and visiting for the first time once it was finally open. I have fond memories of time spent there and the TWA memorabilia brought back even more. My elementary school classrooms were often decorated in the very same posters courtesy of my dad, and more than one teacher asked us to arrange a class trip to see an airplane in the hangar followed by a tour of the unique building that the terminal was. I can’t wait to see the new rendition of it!

The TWA terminal is not quite like it used to be. The view from the sunken lounge is gone but it might have been that or the place torn down.
Unclear to me is what the best rooms are. I think the higher floors with the runway view is the best. For a lower floor, a view of the terminal building is probably better than the runway side where you probably can only see the JetBlue terminal. The view of the TWA terminal probably won’t be so great because it’s too close to the rooms and also the backside of the TWA terminal.

Thanks for the nice photos. I managed to get into the TWA Lounge at the WTC once but didn’t get the nice photos like this article does. I had to go through Trump, who put me in touch with Putin, and a Putin aide let me in. Ok, the last sentence is fake news.
